China horrible earthquake- How much does our life worth?
After reading the news about what had happened in China's powerful 7.9-magnitude earthquake, which levelled whole towns causing untold loss of life on last Monday, 12th May 2008, I really shocked looking at photos with dead students. More than 40,000 people, including young children from 2 blocks of school classrooms, lay dead or buried under rubble and time was running out to save the living.
According to doctors, 72 hours after the tragedy is the critical period of time when survivors could still be rescued from the rumble. Although people can survive up to 15 days, but that is when we are talking about miracles, and miracles do not happen very often.
How much does our life really worth? Seconds after natural disaster we could all die without any indication at all. The more advance our humand is, the more fragile we are. We lost our basic instinct of sensing disaster unlike insects and animals or birds, where they could sense danger and evacuate before even we know it.
So, let's stop relying too much on all those high technological ans advance equipment and starting more our eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hands and legs to actually see, hear, smell, taste and touch our naked earth.
