How To Avoid Spam With Akismet

What you see above are the number of Spam messages I get so far on my blog! It's HUGE! Arent they ignoring? To avoid and prevent all this spam you must use Akismet - A Free Plugin to avoid spam for your blog.

Before I start, Akismet is a free open source spam program online to help fight spam for wordpress owners.

Just follow the following steps to get started to prevent Spam on your blog.

To install & setup Akismet for your blog first you need to go to your Plugin panel in your Control Panel in wordpress found at http://www.(yourdomain).com/wp-admin/



Follow the steps above to activate Akismet.



After you have activated all the Plugins you should see the above message just click on the link enter your Wordpress.com API Key.



To get your API Key, all you need to do is go to www.wordpress.com and sign up for a free account, the API Key will be email to you when you sign up a free account.



When you have sign up for a wordpress.com account you can find the API key when you click on My Profile. Example how a API Key looks like is fbd655933fa6. Please use your own API Key and don’t ever share your API it is like a password for you =)



So once you got the API Key from Wordpress.com, just key in the Key in the box and click on Update Options in your own blog!



You will know you have successfully installed Akismet when the green word appear as above. And you are done! NO MORE SPAM for your blog!

Mark Zuckerberg and his Facebook

Maxis launched Facebook Mobile to it's subscribers recently. It is because Facebook is now so popular that it is the 2nd largest social website in US after Myspace. This also created the youngest Billionaire in the world, its founder, Mr. Mark Zuckerberg.

If Bill Gates became the richest man in the world at the age of 38, Mark is only 23 when he became the 785th Billionaire in the world in 2007. Who is he? Mark was born in 1984 in a jewish-american family in US and he was a dropout student from Harvard University. Coincedentally, Bill Gates was the dropout student of Harvard as well! While Bill Gates found Microsoft at the age of 19, Mark launched Facebook when he was 20 and still a second year undergraduate og Harvard.

What's so amazing about Facebook? Facebook was his idea initially to have a platform for the university students to foster their relationship and to improve social life by creating some online log-book displaying profile, blog, album, PIM tool and later on, its subscribers extended to other colleges in US. Currently, Facebook has well over 70 Million members not only US but from the whole world. Its popularity index is 3 folds over Myspace.

Where does Mark Zuckerberg's income came from? Online Advertisement! With its huge network of members around the world, Facebook's annual income has reached over USD150Million and the value of Facebook appreciated year by year. 4 years after Facebook has been launched, in the end of year 2007, Microsoft forked out USD240 Million just to buy 1.6% stake in Facebook! Amazing is it? An idol of Mark, or everybody, now Bill has to deal business with Mark. Not only that, Mark Zuckerberg has turned away Yahoo's offer to take over Facebook for USD1 Billion! According to Mark, he would rather keep Facebook personal for the time being.

Mark Zuckerberg is the latest successful Drop-out CEO after Bill Gates. Do you still want your children to graduate from university?

World Environment Day 2008

Today, 5th June, is the UNEP's World Environment Day. WED is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action. For this year, there is a slogan for the day: Kick the Habit! Towards a Low Carbon Economy. Off course, in order to conserve the environment of our earth, we have to start changing our habit, our life style that creates emission of Carbon Dioxide, that increases the green house effect to slowly but effectively destroy our naked ozone. What are our habit that erodes our natural environment?

In our modern lifestyle, we use much of the energy in basically, everywhere! Our car, air-con, plastic bags, computers, TV, wooden furniture, smoking, everything! All these things either emit harmful gas to our environment or destroying our environment. I did posted an article regarding the use of plastic bag, which is one of the most environmental unfriendly element. If we insist not to change our habit, our ozone layer will be thinning until a stage where our Artic ice berg will melt and most part of our world will be underwater (I remember one of the movie last year screening about this but can't remember the name, Day After Tomorrow or what). Not only that, the change of climate because of CO2 emission and excessive forest logging will also lead to all those 'modern' deadly decease such ar SARS, HD1N etc which will destroy our life, one day.

So, let's celebrate today by stopping all the environmental unfriendly activities, just for 1 day.
